Detoxification & Metabolic Clearing
Our environment has become increasingly polluted and toxic. These pollutants and toxins impact our physical bodies.
The human body has built-in mechanisms to clean up these undesirable influences on our health and vitality. This sum process of all this work is called detoxification.
Interestingly, most people’s notion of detoxification is related to cleansing harmful effects associated with alcohol and/or illicit drug abuse.
Detoxification is the process of removing poisons from the body. Some of these poisons enter the body from the external environment through air, water, food, and other places. Poisons also develop inside the body due to normal and abnormal processes involving our cells, genes, and more.
People’s health, vitality, longevity, and sense of well-being are now more and more recognized as being closely related to their ability to properly detoxify their physiology.
Detoxification constitutes up to 75 percent of the daily work of the body from birth to death. This requires endless energy to properly dispose of toxins. Sometimes detoxification mechanisms such as the liver work well, and sometimes they do not.
Each individual has both inherited and acquired strengths and weaknesses in their detoxification machinery.
At the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health we use tests to gather detailed information about the individual strengths and weakness of detoxification to create a customized health care plan.
There are many tools to collect this information. Among other approaches such as testing blood and urine, genetic testing provides critical information to identify individual strengths and weaknesses of detoxification. Based on this information, we employ a variety of tailored treatments to help improve the body’s ability to detoxify.
